John was a farmer. He was taken to Idaho as a boy, served as captain and scout in the U.S. Army in the Indian Wars. states a family member. After an honourable discharge from the Army, he went to Moscow, Idaho, where he married Mary J. Stewart. Reportedly at one time he owned what is now Moscow, Idaho. He bought, improved and sold property in mnay places up and down the Pacific Coast, Washington to California.
John Henry and Mary J. were married in Moscow, Idaho. Mary J. Crumrine is buried at Los Gatos, Calif.
