WASHINGTON, Pa., Feb 12- Former Orphans Court Judge J. Boyd Crumrine, with residence in George Washington Hotel, died at 9:30 a.m. yesterday in Hillview Clinic.

Judge Crumrine, who was one of the best known attorney's in Western Pennsylvania, had been admitted to the clinic last December 18.

John Boyd Crumrine was born on the old homestead in that section of old East Bethlehem Township that is now Deernston Borough, November 29, 1881.

He was the youngest of three sons born to Alonzo B. and Eleanor Schooley Crumrine. he received his early education in the Waynesburg public schools, the family having moved to that place in the spring of 1889 when he was just seven years of age.

Graduating from the Waynesburg schools in the Spring of 1897, he entered Waynesburg College in the fall of that year, when he was still 15 years of age. he graduated in 1902, and that fall entered the University of Pennsylvania law School from which he graduated in 1905.

He immediately registered in the law office of Boyd and E.E. Crumrine, under whose preceptorship he was prepared for admission to the Bar.

He was admitted to the Bar on January 7, 1905, and on January 1, 1912, entered into partnership with the late C. L. V. Acheson, who at that time had completed a term as district attorney and later became an additional Law Judge of the Washington County Courts of Common Pleas.

Acheson and Crumrine with offices on the second floor of the Old First national Bank Building, became one of the leading law firms of Southwestern Pennsylvania, and was only dissolved when he was elected President Judge of the Washington County Orphans Court in November, 1923.

For two terms, for a total of 20 years, he served on that Orphan's Court bench. During this period he became an authority on Orphan's Court procedure and decisions, and his decisions and opinions were held in high regard by the legal profession. He was a member of the committee that drafted the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Orphan's Court Rules.

During his term as Judge of the Orphan's Court he served as the last Burgess of Washington Borough for the two years prior to it becoming a Third Class City on the First Monday of January, 1924. It was not through choice that he served as Burgess, but he was practically drafted by the people.

After his retirement from the Orphan's Court bench he formed a law partnership with Frank E. Pireaux, under the firm name of Crumrine and Pireaux, with offices in Court Square Arcade. He continued in this partnership until his death.

He was Thirty-third Degree Mason, and a past master of Sunset Lodge No.623, Free and Accepted Masons. He was a member of other Masonic bodies including Washington Royal Arch Chapter, Washington Council, Pittsburgh Consistory, Jacques de Molay Commandery, Knights Templar; Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Syria Temple, Pittsburgh. Daniel Crumrine, his grandfather, resided on the home farm, and the Judge's father, Alonzo B. Crumrine, continued to live there until 1889, when he moved to Waynesburg.

Judge Crumrine was twice married, On November 9, 1905, just two days after he was admitted to the Washington Bar, he married Miss Loula Kennedy, daughter of David and Nannie Pollock Kennedy of Mt. Moriah. She died October 4, 1914.
