    John Taylor Crow, 75, Wakarusa, Kansas passed away, Friday, April 6, 2012. John was born July 20, 1936, the youngest son of Kenneth R. and Neva G. (Harris) Crow.

    Born and raised in the Auburn area, he graduated from Auburn High School with the class of 1954. John grew up on the farm and with the passing of his Dad he, along with his Mother operated the family farm. His love of farming kept him in the fields until his passing.

    Throughout his life John served on the Auburn Township and Auburn-Washburn School Board. He was awarded the Honorary Chapter Farmer from the FFA and the Kansas Bankers Association Award Soil Conservation.

    He was a Hoegemeyer Seed Dealer for over 20 years. Along with his bowling team, 4 Farmers Plus 1, John racked up league titles and tournament wins. He enjoyed attending Washburn University basketball games, particularly the Lady Blues. He held season tickets and he would travel to their road games.

    For the last 27 years John lived with his companion and best friend, Joyce Klein.

    John was married to Carolyn Sherry and they later divorced. To this union two children were born, John (Jay) T. Crow, Jr. and Sherry (Bennett) Crow Eastburn. John enjoyed his four grandsons; Donovan, Nicholas, Elliott and Harrison Eastburn. He is also survived by his brother, Gerald (Nancy) Crow and sister-in-law, Louise Crow. And Joyce's family of Vicki (Jeff) Hull, Harlan Ray (Julie) Klein and Anita (Kevin) Heno and 10 grandkids.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Luke Carriger and Ralph Crow, and nephew, Steve Crow.

    Characteristics of John; caring, thoughtful, ornery, loyal, honest, integrity .and a stranger to none.

    A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the Auburn Community Center, Auburn, Kansas. Burial will follow in Auburn Cemetery. John will lie in state and family visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, at Carey Funeral Home, Burlingame, Kansas.
