    JOHN, Hartford, an orig. propr. was, perhaps, there in 1637, or 8, m. Eliz. only ch. of William Goodwin, the famous rul. Elder, had s. John, Samuel, Daniel, and Nathaniel, ds. Esther, wh. m. Giles Hamlin of Middletown; Sarah, b. 1 Mar. 1647; Ann, or Hannah, 13 July 1649, wh. m. Thomas Dickinson of Hadley; Mehitable, m. Samuel Partridge of Hadley; Eliz. 1650, m. William Warren, and not, next, Phineas Wilson, as sometimes said; Mary m. Noah Coleman of Hadley, and, next, 16 Sept. 1680, Peter Montague; Sarah m. Daniel White of Hatfield; and Ruth m. William Gaylord, and next, John Haley, both of Hadley. Here are one s. and one d. more than Porter ment. beside that the intermarriages in sev. cases of the ds. are diff. from his. He tells us, that Warren, the h. of Elizabeth d. 1689, and she m. Phineas Wilson, wh. d. 1691, and she d. 1727. He sided with his f.-in-law in the relig. controv. and with him went to plant Hadley, bec. freem. of Mass. 1666, but many yrs. aft. rem. back to Hartford, there d. 16 Jan. 1686. His s. Daniel d. 1693, leav. wid. but no ch.

    John Crow born 1606 died Jan 16, 1685/6 mar Elizabeth Goodwin dau of Elder William Goodwin & Susanna. Early member 1 Ch. Moved to Hadley. John Crow & wife rec'd 2 Ch Mch 31, 1678 (from Hadley). Name on Founders Monument. … Came to New England 1634. He became possessed by vote of the town of the original right of Bartholomew Greene, forfeited by death; chosen surveyor of highways 1656. Was one of the first settlers on the east side of the river and the largest landholder in Hartford. "He owned a tract of land (in East Hartford) extending from ear the present Hockanum bridge north to the neighborhood of "Smith's Lane" and running eastward to the end of the three-mile lots." Crow Hill in the river swamp still retains his name. Went with his father-in-law to Hadley 1659; freeman Mass. 1666; returned to Hartford about 1675.
