John Cronbaugh (son of Nicholas Cronbaugh ) was a man who loved an orchard and grew many fine apple trees. He had a very loud voice and rumors have it that when he issused orders for the day's work it could be heard in the little village of Koszta, 1/2 mile away. He also raised hogs that he had to drive them to market on foot. The market being in Iowa City.

When John died he gave each of his seven sons eighty acres of land in Iowa county. The home place went to Francis Marion, the youngest son.

As of 1998 all the farms are still owned by Cronbaughs or direct decendents.
