This is an old post, but thought I would respond in case you're still searching. On Sept 5, 1973, the following article appeared in the "Spencer Evening World", a newspaper in Owen Co., IN. It gives an early account of some Cradick history. I'll type some just as it appears, and maybe it can help you. "CRADICK: The Owen Leader of August, 1928 gives a report of a reunion of the Cradick family at which a history of the family was given. Mrs. Dovie Altern of Jefferson, Iowa, whose mother was a Cradick wrote a history as well as she could remember it. Mrs. Altern was not at the reunion because of advanced age and poor health. The history read as follows: "My great-grandfather was left with three sons and he thought the opportunities would be better for them in America. He took passage on a sailing ship and died and was buried at sea. The boys were young when they came to America: two of them went south with friends and the other went to the New England States. The two that went south stayed together and lost all track of the one that went north. Their names were William, John and Samuel. My grandfathers(Mrs. Altern's) name was John. When the boys were about 16 Daniel Boone led a small company of people into Kentucky. His own family, the Cradick boys and my grandmother's family whose names were Lytel. My Grandfather married Sarah Lytel and his brother married one of Daniel Boone's daughters and had a son, Daniel Boone Cradick, that used to come out to Owen County and teach school for three or four winters before the Civil War on horseback." I'm descended from John Robert Craddock, whose brother was your William.
