[edit] Virginia Records for review12 Jul 1665 - William Boddie patents 3350 acres in Isle of Wight at the head of Cypress and Western branches for the transportation of 67 persons, including a John Cocer. (C.P. 476)1 1683 - Surry County - John Coker appears on a list of tithables by himself.1 20 April 1684 - Surry County - John Coker received a grant of 400 acres on Cypress Swamp, Lower Parish of Surry for the transportation of 8 persons (P.B. 5-371). 20 April 1685 - Surry County - John Coker received a grant of 1450 acres, including the former 400 acres described as being on "Cypress Swamp on ye main Blacker in Lower Parish of Surry" (Id.464). [Virginia Patent Book 5:371] 1688 - Surry County - John Coker appears on a list of tithables by himself.1 3 Mar 1687/88 - John Coker and Margaret Coker, his wife, of Lawnes Creek Parish, Surry, sold to Richard Bennet the younger, of Upper Parish of Isle of Wight, 450 acres granted to him April 20, 1685 on Blackwater and in the Parish of Lawne's Creek. [Surry County, Virginia Deed Book 3:31] 15 Feb 1692 - John and Margaret Coker sold land to Anthony Evans adjacent to Sion Hill. [Rec. 16 Mar 1714. WB 5-227] 05 Jul 1690 - John and Margaret Cocker sold to Sion Hill for 1600 lbs of tobacco 160 acres on Blackwater adjacent to Richard Bennett. (Id. 143)1 11 Apr 1693 - John and Margaret Coker of Lawne's Creek sold to Elizabeth Caufield 100 acres bought of Hon. John Lear, Esq. (Id. 286) 1694 - Surry County - John Cocker appears on a list of tithables with 2 tithables, the other being William Cocker, his son (> 16y). 1 18 Jul 1701 - John Coker is relieved of paying taxes, meaning he has probably reached the age of 60. 1704 - Surry County - John Coker held 900 acres on the rent rolls. 1 1705 - Isle of Wight County - Will of John Turner gives sons James and John the plantation where John Coffer did live and sons Joseph and Simon land on Boddie's Branch. (C-1-63)1 1710 - Isle of Wight County - Will of Richard Bennet mentions James Coffield. 03 Sep 1716 - John and Margaret Coker sold 70 acres to Samuel Vasser. [Will Book 1715-1730, p 111]1 22 May 1711 - Will of John Coker. Names son William Coker, grandson John Coker (son of William), wife Margarette.
