Baptisms 1784 / April 25th / John Son of Isaac and Ann Lewis P[auper?]
Although the surname here is given as Lewis, it is believed that this family was more usually known as Clark. Isaac's father had been baptised as "Joseph Clarke the base born son of Mary Lewis", and Joseph's descendants were often referred to as "Clark or Lewis" in records. Isaac and Ann's other children were all baptised under the name Clark, but there is a gap between 1781 and 1786 in which there are no baptisms for children of Isaac and Ann Clark, but there is this baptism for a son of Isaac and Ann Lewis. There do not appear to be any other records for a couple called Isaac and Ann Lewis around this time.
