Ann Ody’s origins have yet to be established for certain. One possibility is that she was the Ann Ody baptised on 8th October 1749 at Lydiard Tregoze in Wiltshire.

Ann’s first confirmed sighting is on 15th May 1769, when she was married at Lydiard Tregoze to Isaac Clark. He was from the neighbouring parish of Lydiard Millicent, where they settled after their marriage, having nine children baptised there between 1769 and 1789.

Isaac died aged 44, being buried at Lydiard Millicent on 22nd June 1790. Their youngest son was less than a year old at the time. Ann survived Isaac by less than two years. She was buried at Lydiard Millicent on 10th March 1792.

This would seem to be the most likely baptism, being in the parish in which she married and nineteen years prior to that marriage, but further evidence required to be sure. In particular, it is not clear how this Ann may have been related to the Jane Ody who witnessed her marriage.
