    WILL of JOHN CHYNN/CHINN SR.
    Dated Dec. 15, 1691 - probate May 11,1692, Lancaster Co., VA

    In the name of God Amen the fifteenth day of December Ano Dni 1691
    I John Chinn Senr of the Co. of Laneacter (vente being in sound and Perfect memory thanks bee to Almighty God and calling to remembrance the uncertaine State of this transitory life and that all fflesh must yield unto death when it shall please to God to call Doe make constitute ordain and Declare this my last will and Testament in manner and for me following, revooking and adnulling by these psnts all and evray Testamt and Testamts Will and Wills heretofore by me made declared either by word or writing and this to bee taken only for my last will and Testamt and none other.

    And first penitent and sorry from the bottom of my heart for my sins past most humbly desiring forgiveness for the same I give and comitt my soule unto God my Saviour and Redeemer in whome and by the meritts of Jesus Christ I trust and believ assuredly to be saved and to have full remission of all my sins and that my soule with my body at the Generall day of Resurrection shall rise againe to Joy and through the merits of Christs death and passion possess and inherit the Kingdom of Heaven ppared for his blest and chosen and my body to bee buried in such place where it shall my Executrs hereafter named to appoint And now for the setling of my temporall Estate and such goods Chattells and debts as I am now possest with and it hath pleased God farr whome my deserts to bestow upon me I doe order and dispose of the same in manner and forme following that is to say

    Item I give unto my loving wife Alice Chinn my saddle horse and all my furniture thearunto belonging calld by the name of Dragon and alsoe her riding horse with all the furniture belonging called by the name of Hester.

    Item I give unto my Sone John Trussell and my daughter Elizabeth Trussell his wife twelve pence apiece to bee paid to him six months after my decease.

    Item I give unto my son Thomas Chilton and my daughter Sarah Chilton his wife twelve pence apiece to bee paide within six months after my death.

    Item I give unto my Daughter Ann Chinn all that tract of Land be it more or less whereon Thomas Chilton now lives which I bought from Richard Lloyd laying upon the heade of Powells Creek and to her heirs forever

    I give unto my said Daughter Ann one ffeatherbed a pair of blankets A Rugg a boulster and one pillow, one Iron Pott, a frieng pan, A Mare with all her increase running in Kirbys neck fouor sheep twelve head of cattle when she shall come to the age of sixteen years and not before.

    Item I give unto my daughter Katherine Chinn All the Right and title which I have to a tract of Land laying at the heade of Morattico which I purchased of Thomas Maddison to her and her heirs forever, tenn head of cattle four sheep a mare A Rugg, bolster, and one pillow one iron pott a frieng pan when she shall come to the age of sixteen years and not before.

    Item I give unto my sone John Chinn twelve pence in money to bee paide him within six months after my decease because I have paid and hee hath recd his portion already.

    Item I give unto my Sone Rawleigh Chinn All the tract of Land I now live upon, and to his heirs forever, One ffeather bed and furnitur One iron pott, ffour sheep, tenn head of cattle, one mare three years old with all her increase forever, two Guns and a paire of Andjions when hee shall come to the age of twenty yeares and not before and also one Negro between sixteen and twenty.

    Item My will and pleasure is that all the said cattle and sheep soe given unto my saide children as aforesaide as they shall come to their respective age or ages to bee delivered as aforesaide the cattle shall not exceed ten years apiece nor the sheep to exceed five years apiece.

    Item My will and pleasure is that all my Estate both chattle and psonall Except before excepted given and bequeathed as aforesaide I give unto my Loving wife Alice Chinn whome I make whole and sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale the day and year above written

    Signed sealed published and declared this to bee my last will and Testament in psence of us
