JOHN ARTHUR CHAUVIN
Hammond radio pioneer John Chauvin, 82, died today, Aug. 13, 2004.
A native of White Castle, he is survived by his wife, Frances Watkins Chauvin; three daughters, Nanette Guerin and Suzanne and Tracy Durham, both of Hammond, and Jayne Bankston of Mandeville; four sons, Johnny, Tom, Steven and Tim Chauvin; 15 grandchildren; and one sister, Clara Ruth "Cogy" Gilbert of Baton Rouge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Munson Sully and Clara Marquette Chauvin; one brother, Munson Sully Chauvin Jr.; and two sisters, Dorothy Ann Chauvin Tucker and Lucy Ella Chauvin LeBlanc.
A memorial celebration will be held Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. with a service at 6:30 at the family home, the Seven C's.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richard Murphy Hospice Foundation in Hammond, the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, or a charity of one's choice.
