War Department, Dec. 22, 1888 states J B Cason a private of Company A, 1 Regiment ARk., Inf (6 mos) Volunteers, was enrolled on 10 day of June, 1862, at Independence Co. Ark., 6 mo., and is reported: on the roll for Sept. to Oct 1862, first on file. . Muster out roll of Co,. dated Dec. 31, 1862, Benton, Baracks, Mo. reports ;him pvt. mustered out with Co. at that date and place.

Declaration For Original Invalid Pension  dated Dec., 7, 1888  age 42, resident of the town of Goreville, county of Johnson, state of Ill. , who being duly sworn according to law , declares that he is the identical John B. Cason who was

enrolled on the 10th day of June 1862 inCo. A of the 1st Regiment of Ark, Inf. commanded by ---- and was honorable Discharged at St,. Louis Benton Barix the 31day of Dec. 1862, Height 6 ft. , white complexion, color of hair is dark. That while a member of the organization aforesaid, in the service and in the line of duty at Benton Barracks in the State of Mo. on or about the 1st day of December 1862 he contracted "mumps" there from the exposure and hardships of the service, and he has never recovered from same and the effects therefore.

That he was treated in hospitals as follows: House of Refuge. St. Louis, Mo. several weeks.

Mrs. Harve Betts of Creal Springs filled death certificate out. Alonzo Glass MD stated he attended the deceased from May 30 1927 to June 24, 1927 and last saw him alive on June 24, 1927 and that death occurred at 6:30 m., cause of death Disease of Bladder, contributory (Secondary) Prostate, No operation and no autopsy performed.. Place ,burial, Creal Springs, Ill. June 26, 1927. Undertaker H. Cocke of Creal Springs. Ill.
