JOHN CARTMILL was born between 1770 and 1780 at Ohio.
He married NANCY
NUTGRASS, daughter of GRAY NUTGRASS and EDNA PUGH, on 19 May 1829 at Shelby
County, Kentucky. Depending on the actual date of his birth, John was 17-
27 years older than Nancy when they married. John was listed as 50-60 in
the 1830 census. Nancy was only 33 in 1830. Nancy was widow with five
children. Her husband Abraham Collings had died three years earlier. He
appeared on the census of 1830 at Putnam County, Indiana. He purchased
property on 1 May 1833 at Crawfordsville, Putnam, Indiana.
He died between
1837 and 1840. Son Harrison was born in 1836. Wife Nancy is head of
household in the 1840 census. John likely died between these dates.
