Died in the Rail Road Yards in The Dalles. Born 11 Feb 1876 in Sweden. Father: Karl Johnson Buried I.O.O.F Cemetery, the Dalles Cerebral Hemorrhage. OBIT - THE DALLES OPTIMIST, Friday Novemeber 6, 1936 p. 7 John Peter Carlson John Peter Carlson, aged 60, dropped dead in the local railroad yards Thursday night, death being due to a heart attack. Funeral services were held Monday from Zells Chapel with burial in the IOOF cemetery. Pall bearers were car inspectors for the Union Pacific. Mr. Carlson was a native of Sweden coming to the US in 1893. He was married to Agnes Turner in Omaha, NE in 1900 moving to The Dalles in 1919. Surviving him are his widow, a son Claire of Portland, a daughter, Mrs. Esther Scarburry of Portland and 2 grandchildren. The City Directories show that they lived at 1821 Jackson. Agnes until 1955. In 1936 John was a car inspector for the Union Pacific. 1920 Wasco Oregon Census shows family as follows: Husband John Peter Carlson age 50 Wife Agnes Carlson age 39 Daughter Esther Carlson age 19 Son Phillip Carlson age 17 Son Clarence Carlson age 12 Son Lloyd Carlson age 10 Son Elmer Carlson age 9 Based on Obit for John Peter Carlson which only lists Esther and Clarence as surviving children, it is assumed that Phillip, Lloyd and Elmer passed away before John Peter Carlson's death in 1936. 1910 Sheridan Co Nebraska Census shows family as follows Husband John Peter Carslon age 40 Wife Agnes E. Carlson age 29 Daughter Esther Carlson age 9 Son Phillip j. Carlson age 7 Son Clarence Carlson age 2 Son Lloyd Carlson baby (living in Pine Creek Precinct, Ne.) lived in sod house and were homesteading Flags: 0 |
