There is a John Cannon listed in the 1769 Onslow County, NC tax list. His entry indicates only one taxable white in his household. This suggests that he was not yet married and was around 20 years of age. That would put his birth date at around 1749, which is near the estimated birth date (1743] of our John Cannon. More proof is needed.
