Notes
- From Genforum Message Board:
- Found a deed dated 26 Aug 1762 from Edmund Burrus of Orange County, Virginia to John Oakes of King William County, Virginia for 100 acres EXCEPT 20 SQUARE FEET FOR A BURYING PLOT. believe this "burying plot" was for Edmund's first wife. Edmund Burrus had two children by his first wife; John Burrus, born about 1745 and Mary Burrus, born about 1747. John Burrus married Ann Henderson while Mary Burrus married John Oakes Jr. See mention in will of Edmund Burrus of his wife's children, with exception. Mention is made of Sarah and Mary Burrus, children of John Burrus, decd. and Mary Oakes.
