This is a copy of a message I found on a message board. Kathy.?
"I am looking for the parents of John Bugh/Buch/Buck born around 22 October 1785 near the Schuylkill River in Berks Co. His ancestors arrived in Philadelphia around 1707 and settled in the area where he was born around 1730 (not yet Berks Co. in 1730). The family name in Germany was Von Buch and was later changed to Bugh. He married Elizabeth Moser and they were in Union Co. PA by 1816. Both he and Elizabeth died in Lycoming Co. PA in 1868 & 1867. " Kathy Jetter.
This is a history I received from cousin Linda L. Byerley.
Bugh Family History
In 1685, the Von Buchs of the German tribe known as the Franks, lived in the
Palatines near the Rhine River. The Von Buchs fled from King Louis XIV by
traveling through France to England. (They were numbered among the Huguenots,
Calvinists, who fled to the new land to escape religious persecution. These
people were Germans, Swiss and Frenchmen.) There they traveled by ship to
Philadelphia in 1707, changing their name to Bugh (or Book). They moved to
Berk's County, Pennsylvania in 1730.
