    1890 Census destroyed

    Found in 1900 Census. This family is living on a rented farm in or near the village of Annetta, Grayson Co, Ky. (The farm is number 108 on the farm schedule) John can read and write. They are in residence no. 114 on the census taken 11 Jun 1900. There is a Thomas Brown listed as a boarder with the family. He was born in Jan. 1856 and is 44 yrs old and works as a day laborer. Thomas Brown (the boarder) cannot read or write. Thomas Brown was four years older than John. He was older brother to John.

    The 1910 census finds John and Martha in District 5, Grayson Co, Ky. with the following family members: Thomas and wife Sarah T., Martha amd Payline (Pauline). Family of John W. Brown

    1920 Census: South Fork Twnshp, Christian Co., Il. ED 25, Sheet 5B. John not there. Wife Martha listed as Head of Household, Widowed, with sons George W., Lloyd and Henry in the home with her.

    John Brown was cutting wood on his family farm at Wax, Ky when the tree fell on him. He died from his injuries. (Source: Death Certificate, Family records)

    John was buried in the old St. Benedict's Catholic Cemetery at Wax. He had no headstone. It is believed that his grave is one of those that was not moved before the flooding of the Nolin River.
