"Brinsmade, John. Deputy (Stratford) to Conn. Leg., Oct. 1671, May and Oct. 1672. He settled in Charlestown, Mass., by 1636, and was made freeman, 2 May 1638; m. Mary Carter, dau. of Thomas. He rem. to Stratford. Agreement of heirs of John, Sr., of Stratford, 3 Nov. 1673; widow Mary; sons John, Daniel, Paul, Samuel; daus. Mary Bostwick (had part of portion at marriage) and Elizabeth Brinsmade; signed also by John Bostwick [Mary did not sign]. Inv. £519, shows he was a blacksmith; about 60 books; land at Stratford and Derby."
