Will of John Beaty
In the name of God, amen, this eleventh day of November, 1806, I John Beaty of the county of Harrison and state of Virginia, being weak in body but of sound mind and memory, do make, and aim this to be my last will and testament, in the following manner that is to say Lord, I command my soul to the almighty God, and my body to the earth to be decently buried, and everything my worldly estate, I dispose of in the following manner.
I give to SARAH my loving wife all my personal property of any kind, except what hogs may be left after the meal for the family this insuring winter, which Legacy I give her for her and her child for Quaintance and support in life the one third of my land or dower there in. The remainder of the hogs to be sold to help may my debts. I also direct my executors to make sale of land as soon as possible and with the price arising there from to pay all my just debts and do hereby authorize my executors or any one of them to make a deed of conveyance to the purchaser in fee simpler and after all my debts are justly paid I require the balance to be equally divided between my wife and surviving children.
I do hereby appoint and constitute my wife, SARAH BEATY and her father, JOHN BURNSIDES my one and complete executors of this my last will and testament. Being all former wills and bequests by me made and declared this to be my last will and testament, wherefore I hence to set my hand seal, this day.

This indenture made the 10th day of October 1829 between Hough (Hugh) Kelso of the county of Preston Virginia of the one part and James Johnson and Sarah his wife, Nathan Wotten and Betsy his wife, and Joel Martin and Sarah is wife, heirs of John Beaty, deceased of the county of Jackson and the state of Ohio of the other part. [Note: Sarah who married James Johnson was the wife of John Beatty. Betsy (who married Nathan Wotten) and Sarah (who married Joel Martin) were the daughters of John Beatty and his wife Sarah [Burnsides]].
