Other sources indicate that John J. Baxter was born in Allen County, KY. It appears he came to Jackson County, MO (Kansas City area) in 1829 with his parents (father, William Baxter), who purchased land there in or before 1829 (see Jackson County land patent map -- I don't have the exact information at hand just now). MO records show that John J. and Sarah Ruth married in Jackson County. William's will is recorded in Jackson County; I can provide a transcript, prepared by others and provided to me.
