John Battey, Jr., son of John and Margaret (Carr) Battey, born Warwick, R. I., 13 Mch. 1720, died 14 Nov., 1797; married in Prividence, R. I., by William Burton, Justice, 26 Nov. 1741, Priscilla Westcott, of Providence, daughter of Josiah and Frances (Clarke) Westcott. John and Priscilla were Quakers and resided in South Scituate, R.I., where he was a large land owner. In 1766 he was commissioned Lieutenant of 1st Scituate Company, by Samuel Ward, Governor of Rhode Island.
