John Bates (John, George, John) was bequeathed by his father land whereon he now lives...by name of 'Old Martine'", also "my grist water mill by name of 'O'Kenneck Mill,'" and a tract called "Poplar Springs" on the Chickahominy River. He left will dated 30 Nov 1722, proved 15 July 1723.[1]
