Facts and Events
The first tavern in Dayton, a district of South Brunswick, N.J., was kept as early as 1750 by James Whitlock who sometime later sold it to John Van Barkelo who occupied it for many years and was highly respected as a man of business. He is said to have had several children, but the baptism of only one has been found: Jaers (Joris?) Bap. Nov. 12, 1758, in the Dutch Church at Six Mile Run. |
