Facts and Events
!Date of Sealing to Spouse could have also been 12 November 1854. !Endowment was also performed by proxy on 12 November 1954. !Children 6-11 were BIC. Previous children sealed in 1962 by Jessie & Burton Smith. !At the age of 6 years, John Harvey was taken from his parents who were living in Sudbury, Massachusetts at the time by an aunt, Nancy Richardson, to Kirtland, Ohio to gather with the newly-established Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Just why Aunt Nancy took John Harvey from his parents, we do not know; we do know that he was never permitted to see or even to hear from them again. As soon as he could read and write he tried to contact them through correspondence, but failed. Aunt Nancy loved and cared for John Harvey as if he were her own son. !Ancestral File lists a total of 10 children to Ebenezer Ballard and Sophia Richardson, but with incomplete information and no references. More research needed to confirm the following: 1. Leander "B" BALLARD (M) born 1816; married Betsy Jane BEMIS on 6 Aug 1837; Baptism 26 April 1988 SEATT; Endowment 27 April 1988 SEATT; Sealing to Parents 29 April 1988 SEATT 2. BALLARD (M) born about 1818 3. BALLARD (M) born about 1820 4. BALLARD (F) born about 1822 5. BALLARD (M) born about 1824 6. Rhoda Ann BALLARD (F) born 10 July 1824 (was she a twin to #5?) in CT; married 30 Jan 1846 to Clark Lyman WHITNEY; died 30 Mar 1901; Baptism 29 Dec 1990 JRIVE; Endowment 9 Nov 1991 PROVO; Sealing to Parents 16 Jan 1992 PROVO 7. John Harvey BALLARD (M) born 30 November 1825 8. Adaline Elizabeth BALLARD (F) born about 1826 in CT; also married 30 Jan 1846 Clark Lyman WHITNEY (was this possible? It is improbable that the Ballards had joined the Church unless they were also taken to Kirtland at an early age by their aunt Nancy Richardson; Baptism 29 Dec 1990 JRIVE; Endowment 12 Nov 1991 PROVO; Sealing to Parents 16 Jan 1992 PROVO 9.
