John Ball (November 12, 1794 – February 5, 1884) was a settler, educator, lawyer and member of the Michigan State Legislature. 1811 Studied in Salisbury, NH.

1820 Graduated from Darmouth College.

1820-24 Studied law with Walbridge and Lansing in Lansingburg, NY.

1824 Admitted to the bar in Lansingburg, NY.

1832-35 Overland to Oregon, returned via Cape Horn.

1837 Moved to Grand Rapids, MI.

1838 Elected to MI Legislature.
