In the Name of God, amen. This twentieth Day of February in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty tow (sic). I, John Beaird of Lincoln County and the State of North Carolina being Weake of Body but of perfect Mind and Memory thanks be Given to God Therefore, calling to Mind the Mortality of My Body and that it is appointed for all Men once to Die, do make and ordain this My Last Will and Testament That is to Say principally and first of all I Give and Recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God that Gave it and My Body I Recommend unto the Earth to be Buried in a Christian like and decent Manner at the Direction of my Executor and as touching Such worldly Estate Wherewith it hath Pleased God to Bless me in this Life I give and Devise and Dispose of the Same in the Following Manner and form to wit First: [excerpt]
