Arrived on convict transport ship MOFFATT on 9 May 1834 having left Plymouth England on 29 Jan 1834 (see State Archives ref: Convict no 2086) See: http://search.archives.tas.gov.au/ImageViewer/image_viewer.htm?CON31-1-5,220,128,F,52 He was convicted of horse stealing in Warwick on 30 March 1883 and sentenced to Life imprisonment. At this stage he was married with one child. His brother Richard was transported on the same journey having been sentenced at Warwick on 1 August 1833 to Life imprisonment for Uttering forged Bank of England notes. He was shown as being single. Quote from Yvonne Jetson's email "Benjamin's father was also Benjamin Badcock born ABT 1814 Birmingham West Midlands he was a horse dealer and trader transported to VDL over a disputed sale of a stolen horse aboard the `Moffat` from Plymouth. Made application for his wife and son to join him. They arrived in 1840. Conditionally pardoned in 1846. Moved to Hobart and established a corn & grain store. Buried at Cornelian Bay Cemetary. His wife was Mary Fyfield."
