Greenwich anno 1700-1701 March ye 7 Wee whose names are under written being ye sellect men of ye towne of Greenwich see cause to enter this following cavet: that when as John Austin of said towne is layd under ye deprivation of his understanding so far forth as we judge him person capable to bargain, sell or alienate to aney person that may bee exposed throu indiscretion to imbesell said estates to his owne and ye towne's grate damage Wherffore wee said sellect men declare as sellect men against all such deeds of gifft sale or alienation of what nature or kinds so ever said Austin shall after ye date here of shall make of said lands ingrening to any person or persons in or out of the towne of Greenwich: unless it be with the full consent and approbation of ye select men of ye towne: ye select men are John Hubby, Sargeant Realds, Samll Heusted, Jonathan Mead, Timothe Knap.
John Astin of Greenwich acknowledges self eldest son and thereby proper heir apparent to home lot laid out to his honored father, deceased, some years since. who died intestate. (and?) Was kept out of proper right and greatly wronged by his brother Thomas and his children. Releases all rights to his brother Thomas Austin and his children on home lot of 8 acres bounded East by town street or highway, west by John Mead, south by Benjamin Hobby, north by Jonathan Renalls. Jonathan Austin bond to John Austin for sum of £112, Mar 31, 1716, on condition he furnish him with good and sufficient drink, washing and lodging, and close fitting for such a man of his age, during the time of his life at the house of Jonathan Austin and to discharge John Austin from any charge whatsoever for his maintenance. Entered April 1, 1716.
