SOURCE: A History of Abbottstown found at Ancestry.com - p. 5 - "Founder's Son? - Another John Abbett, 1740 - 1763, is buried two or three rods north of the Lincoln Highway, at a point approimately two squares west of the cross stree referred to as "James" on the original plot of the town. The inscription on the tombstone reads, "Here ly's the Body of John Abbet who Departed this life October the 29th 1763; aged 24 years." The approximate date of his birth, therefore, is 1740... The writer believes that this John Abbet was the son of the Fuonder; however, documentary evidence to prove his belief is lacking. It is quite probable that there was no cemetery in Abbottstown at the time of his burial."
