Jan Tunis and Aagie Stothoff (at Amersfort); married first Barbara van Dyck, daughter of Achias van Dyck and Janettje Lambert, 19 Nov 1703; married second Sarah van Vliet, 2 May 1744; died 19 Oct 1757 at age 74; buried at Ref.     He lived in 1702 at Freehold, Monmouth Co., NJ. In 1730 he lived at Fishkill, Dutchess Co., NY. Soon after his first marriage John moved to Freehold, NJ, and purchased a 200 acre farm. On 20 June 1730 John purchased 2790 acres of land in Dutchess County, NY, on the Hudson bounded by Mrs. Brett. John was one of the founders and an elder of the Reformed Church at Fishkill, NY. He and his wife Barbara are buried in the church yard at Fishkill.

    The will of John Voorhees, of Rombout, was dated 15 Aug. 1755 and probated 5 Feb 1758. It mentions his wife Sarah and discharges an agreement in a pre-nuptial contract. Also mentioned are his children; "beloved son Court' and bars him from further claim as eldest son, Zacharias who is listed as unmarried; Jacob; late son John; daughters Jannetje and Maria; and "Negro men." The executors were his sons Zacharia and Jacob, sons-in-law John Brinkerhoff and Elias Dubois; witnesses Peter Bogardus Jr., John Campbell and Egbert Bogardus.
