Notes on Johannes Stump

Johannes Stump was born in 1746. He was a farmer, and took up land along the Tulpehocken creek, in North Heidelberg township, where he died in 1822. He is buried on the homestead, in a private burial-ground, where many of the family name sleep their last sleep. His children included Samuel, Benjamin, John and another son, the latter two ofwhom settled in Ohio. Samuel Stump and John Merkey, the latter possibly a son-in-law of Johannes, settled up Mr. Stumps's estate. The family were Dunkards in their religious faith.
