Facts and Events
Was baptized at East Camp (Germantown) NY August 27, 1739. Was a trustee and deacon about 1792 in the German Reform Church at East Camp. Moved to Cobleskill, Schoharie County, NY in 1799. His farm at Howe's Cave (same county) has never passed out of ownership of the Kilmers. The Kilmer history starts back in Germany where the name was Kulmer. It is believed that the area of Germany was in the western part called Palatine. This is near the Ruhr Valley, and it may be that the Kulmers were well-acquainted with iron works when they came to the United States. References
