They had to hand over the farm to the Eidet smelting works, but in change they got the farm Berget 122/2 (pages 440-443). The funny thing is that the author on page 441 says that they got 9 children, but on pages 431-432 are mentioned 6 and on page 442 another 2 but no Hans Johannessen. I guess that this Hans Johannessen was born in Singsås where Berit Hansdtr was born, and the Aalen bygdebook author did not find his birth in the Aalen bygdebook, and therefore he is not listed. They had a son Johannes Johannessen 1826-1898 who had 9 children, of whom a new Johannes b. 1855 d. after 1900 unmarried. --- I do not have the Singsås bygdebook's and I think that Eugene B Singsaas e-mail adress [email protected] probably can find out more. Haakon It was in the early 1840's and he came from Bjorgan in Haltdalen, but was from (born in) Eidet in Alen. His parents was Johannes Jonson Eidet and wife Beret Hansdatter Kleven from Singsas. Hans and Karti lived at Gaustad. They where also from Alen, but lived (settled at) Gresjmoen in 1857. Eidet eller Eliplassen, gnr. 121/5 Ålen Book II Page 430 This property has its origins in a cotter's place that lay between the river and the road just north of the smelter. Later Elitrøa was cleared on the opposite of the road. The first operators of the place were Johannes Johannessen and Eli Jonsdtr. He was from Røros, while she grew up at Eidet. Johannes came here and married Eli in the 1740s. They had 8 children, but 3 died young. Johannes himself died close to 90 years old in 1798. Only his som Jon lived at home at that time. The family's belongings were valued at 62 speciedaler. The year before, however, Johannes and Eli had issued a mortgage bond to their son Jon for the house and chattels for 118 speciedalers. This was the entire debt except for probate costs which were added. Jon Johannesen then began to operate the place after his parents. He was a mine worker like father and married to Gunhild Johannesdtr. Heggset at this time. The place received an assessment in 1802 of 30 riksdaler, and the followibng note: "Does not harvest grain, good hay harvest, supports 3 cattle and 4 small livestock. Forest for firewood." The farm's owners were the partners of Røros Copper Works. I is reported when the probate was hels after Jon's father 4 years earlier that the place lay in "Røraas Partner's common land." In 1804 Jon had Eideplassen registyered. In the court's evaluation it is recorded that the place should be able to support 34 cows and an equivalent number of small livestock. The assessment was set at 3 marklag. ln 1810 Jon's wife Gunhild died, and a probate was held. This concluded in February. The farm was valued at 200 riksdaler, and chattels at 23 riksdaler, while debts and costs came close to 175 riksdaler. Johannes re-married a short time after Gunhild's and had a daughter in the second marriage names after his first wife. When he became a widower for the second time, ge married again in 1840 in an age of 75 years for the third time. ln the meantime much had occurred with the farm. His son .lohannes had taken over about 1820, but in 1833 he was forced to make a swap with Røros Copper Works such that they got farm property here for a new lot for the smelter building. Johannes and his family were offered the Berget farm in return. The deed was issued in 1833. And Johannes got 250 speciedaler for the property. From the 1830s therefore, Eideplassen was combined with Eidet farm and as long as the smelter was in operation it was strongly stamped with that activity.
