AKA = "JOHN"

The Wabash County History book gives the name of John's village as: "WALTGREWEILER", which is of course, an incorrect spelling.

The book says that he and his wife, plus four children migrated to the USA in 1861, on the last sailing vessel to cross the Atlantic.

The Baumbauer family is another of several who migrated from Waldgrehweiler to America, who are featured in these WeRelate pages. Also associated with Waldgrehweiler are related people with surnames of: Beamer, Brand, Geibel, Glasser, Henry, Hildebrand, Maurer, Regula, and Schroeder.

Could John (and his wife Katharina Elizabeth GEIBEL) have once lived on a Wabash County farm, in northeast Noble Township, in Section 23? The "Illustrated Historic Atlas of Wabash County, Indiana" (1875) shows a lot of 70 acres, in the northeast of that section as belonging to "J. Baumbauer". This Section is to the west of Section 24, which is adjacent to Highway 13, which runs to Urbana. In the far northeast of Section 24, is the farm of "Geo. Shultz", along Highway 13. George Shultz was one of the leaders of the Urbana pioneers, who settled in the area.

In 2013 this compiler counted 32 people with the BAUMBAUER surname listed on WeRelate.org. Thirteen of them were posted by Carol Greene; and the rest by this compiler.
