JDCB bore five children to Johann Michael in a 13 year marriage. Only the second born, Heinrich Emil, survived infancy. He was five years old at his mother's death. Hope was expressed undoubtedly when an infant daughter was named Dorothee, like her mother. The child lived 2.5 months.

Johanne Dorothee died in childbirth with her fifth child. Johann Michael could not even bear to give the child a name in the sorrow, evidently, because the baby is listed in the church directory as "Son without forename" (Sohn ohne Vorname).
