Research Notes
- One source used to identify Johanna as the wife of Charles Gunther and mother of Henry Gunther was her interment record which states that she was buried in the same burial plot as both Charles and Henry and lists her place of death as 1168 2nd Ave. This is the same address listed in 1892 & 1894 NYC Directories for "Joanna Gunther" where she is listed as a widow of Charles and a 1886 NYC Directory for Henry Gunther, segarmaker. (Sidenote: per his death record, Charles Gunther was also a segarmaker.)
