Facts and Events
"Johann Ernst Sevin, youngest son of Nicolaus II, born in Ummerstatt in 1720. Up to this item we have records from the church register at Ummerstatt as they were reported to me (Herman Sevin) by the Reverend Horn of Ummerstatt, February 23 and March 18, 1868. Johann Ernst Sevin was a teacher in Ummerstatt up to 1765 and later in Heidelberg where he died on March 28, 1787 according to the Lutheran church records of Heidelberg. The protocol of his marriage is found in the church records of Dainbach. (Joahnn Nicholaus Sevin, former sexton at Sindolzheim, now a citizen of Nummerstatt in Sachsen-Hildburghhausen, and Anna Gertraudis, legitimate daughter of the sexton Johann Christian Thiennchen of this place, were married here on October 25, 1740, after previous, unprotested three-fold bans.) This wife died, according to the Lutheran records of Heidelberg, February 12, 1783. Regarding the mother of his wife we find in the necrology of Neunstetten the folowing notice: "On March 3, 1760, Mrs. Anna Margaretha (or Margagetha) Thiemich, widow of the the deceased Johann Christian Thiemich, teacher at Dainbach, a member of the reformed church and living with her son-in-law, our _______ (typed over and unreadable) was buried, age 79: Funeral text. But where J. E. Sevin spent the first years of his married life I could not find out: not in Dainbach; not in Neunstatten, nor in Kunzelsau, nor Sindringen as the old Family Tree asserts. Neither could I find any official record of the birth of his oldest son, The children of J. E. Sevin, constituting the seventh generation since the night of St. Bartholomew, Ernest Gottfried Carl, born June 29-1741 according to the old Family Tree "Was a teacher in Ummerstatt up to 1765, Anna Gertrude, born at Neunstatten, March 27-1747, sister of a twin, still born.
