Facts and Events
From the research of Charles Schretzmann found at: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/s/c/h/Charles-F-Schretzmann/GENE1-0009.html "Witnesses to the marriage were Johann Valtin Lohr and Johann Adam Schretzmann. Obituary entry for his son, Franz Alois, indicates that his wife, Barbara, was a widow as of Nov 19 1788 (ergo, he died between 1780 and 1788). "There is an unusually descriptive death entry for a Jakob who died on Jun 30 1780 while journeying between Hardheim and Hopfingen, apparently in search of lost cows! The entry indicates that it was a very hot, sunny day, and he became extremely fatigued. After rapidly drinking cold water, he suddenly began to choke and suffocated. [heat stroke?]; the entry states that he was about 40 years old, and gives no marriage information. "Johann Jakob would have been 50 years old, not 40 in Jun 1780. While the 1780 entry might be for another person, it is more likely that this is "our" Johann Jakob and his age was incorrectly stated in this entry. I did not find any other Johann or Jakob death entry in the Hardheim records between 1780 and 1788. Additionally, his Hardheim Familienbuch entry (p 857.3) gives 1780 as his year of death. - CFS " |
