Johann moved to Niederschelden as early as 1592, and in the special taxlist of 1599 (Siegener Landesarchiv 17, No. 17, Page 123) he paid taxeson a barn rented from Gerhard Luech, cultivated land in Niederscheldenwith his brother-in-law, but owned no house of his own, as he lived withhis father-in-law, Peter Luech, the elder. He also paid taxes on landowned at Oberschelden and had loaned Theiss Fischbach 16 Gulden. He wasstill paying taxes on this Oberschelden property in 1636. By his firstmarriage to Peter Lueck's daughter he had at least three sons, Theiss,Johann the younger, and Peter, and one daughter, Catherine, wife ofJohann Hartmann. His first wife died prior to 1624 and he married asecond wife, Margreth, but whom he had the following four childrenrecorded in the baptismal register at Siegen, with christenings andgodparents as follows: |
