Facts and Events
In 1805, the name of the country in which he died was unknown, because in 1803 Napoleon had instigated the "Dissolution Act", which ended the 600 year old principality of the "Prince-Bishopric of Osnabrueck". The area went through a succession of governments, until in 1815, the "Congress of Vienna" created the "Kingdom of Hannover", which was ruled by the same family, which ruled the British Empire. The territories were separated in 1837, because Queen Victoria took the British throne, and was forced to renounce the Hannover throne, because by law, only a male could rule Hannover. In 1866 the Kingdom of Hannover, was incorporated into the Kingdom of Prussia. A few years later (in 1871), it became a part of the new German Empire. --White Creek 15:26, 27 July 2020 (UTC) Image Gallery
