- January 1710: London, England, 5 ships with 3,000 Palatines left England for America. 2 of the 5 ships and 470 immigrants were lost at sea. Joannes was on the ship "James & Elizabeth".
- 10 January 1710: Arrival, New York, New York: arrived on the Hudson River, NY with 3,000 Palatine pioneers to the Schoharie Valley. 250 died of fever after their arrival. Governor Hunter's New York refugee ration list included Joannes, wife, Anna, 9 year old daughter, and 2 sons.
- 1710: Schoharie Valley, New York: Johannes was the head of what was called Garlock's Dorf (Villages were named after the person in charge. "Dorf" in German mean "village".)
- 1713: New York: Queen Ann allowed Johannes and family to move to Indian land after Gov. Hunter decided not to provide for the 2,000 refugees and were left to fend for themselves.
- 1721: Mohalk Valley, Herkimer, New York: Joannes and a small group of men crossed the Catskill Mountains into the Mohawk Valley. This is where he met and married a Mohawk referred to as Doctor Woman. They had 5 children who were all born in Stona Arabia, Mohawk Valley, NY.
