  3. Besides Morse's assertion of a death in 1797 in Richmond, some ancestral files list a death in 1799 in Richmond. The basis for either claim is unknown and seems contradicted by census records. In 1790, both Joel and Joel Jr. are found in Phillipston, MA. By 1800, Joel Jr. [born in 1765, so age 35] had removed to Pelham, MA where the oldest male is 26-45. Meanwhile Joel Sr. [who is about 65 in 1800] is found in Richmond, NH, where the oldest male is over 45.
