Job as a single man, moved to Pickens County, AL, sometime between1850 and 1854. He met and married Mandy, raised their family, and survived the rigors of the Civil War. In the fall of 1870 Job returned to SC and brought his monther< Sarah and his 2 sisters, Elizabeth and Martha and a niece Mary Alice Jaynes back to Alabama to live.Job enlisted as a Pvt, Co K, 41 Regt, AL Inf, on 4 May 1862. He was described as 5'7"tall, with fresh complexion, black hair & hazel eyes. He was wounded and captured in Jan 1863 at the Battle of Murfreesboro, TN and was a prisoner at Camp Douglas, IL, til he was exchanged in Apr 1863. He returned to Co K by the end of 1863, and was captured a 2nd time at Knoxville, TN. Sent to Camp Chase, OH; later transferred to Louisville, KY; then to Rock Island, IL by 23 Jan 1864 where he remained till parole on 2 June 1865.Job eventually became blind. Little is known about his 1st wife, Mandy, but they had 12 children including 1 set of twins. He married a 2nd wife named Callie Peeks on 14 Jan 1898 in AL. They had no children.
