Auburn Resident Dies At Age Of 83

Mrs. George Denison, wife of Former Mayor of This City, Passes Away at Home of Daughter.

The death of Mrs. George Denison occurred at 2 o'clock Friday morning at the home of her daughter Mrs. Vern Groscop of 202 East First street, Auburn, at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 12 days. Her death was due to complications and the infirmities of age. She had been bedfast for three weeks and for nearly a week her condition had been critical.

Mrs. Denison was a daughter of Joseph and Eva Borts Bowman and was born in Richland township April 13, 1851. She was united in marriage with the late George O. Denison, fourth mayor of Auburn and former clerk of the DeKalb circuit court on December 26, 1871. He died on March 1, 1925.

To Mr. and Mrs. Denison were born five children. The first, a son died in infancy. The remaining children are Mrs. Groscop of this city, Mrs. Annetta Eberly, Mrs. Daisy Fee and Bradford Denison, all of Waterloo. Besides the children there survives two half brothers, Frank Bowman of 424 North Indiana avenue and George Bowman of Westville, Ill. There are eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Denison lived on a farm southeast of Waterloo until the year 1900 when they moved to Auburn after Mr. Denison's election as clerk of the court.

The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Groscop with Dr. Manfred C. Wright, pastor of the First M. E. church, officiating. Burial will be made in Woodlawn cemetery.

The body was removed lat Friday afternoon from Dilgard Bros. Funeral home to the Groscop residence.
