Lineage

The speculation of her parents as William Clark and Joane/Jane Stone appears to originate in the Simon Stone Genealogy (p. 50 footnote), based on the discovery of the 31 Jan 1585/6 marriage record of William Clark and Joane Stone in Boxted, Essex, England.

However, it seems highly likely that all the children of William Clark baptized in Little Bromley between 1591 and 1607 were of the same family. One of those records (the second Margaret's) identifies her mother as Margaret. Given the range of baptism dates (starting the year after the marriage of William Clarke and Margaret Hadlock) and the fact that the mother of the Margaret baptized in 1598 was identified as Margaret, it seems that the Little Bromley children were the children of William Clarke and Margaret Hadlock.

The former is the place as found in the original record, while the latter is the result of an auto-standardization routine that was known to sometimes make mistakes (see [1]).
