EDUCATION: Ackworth School - 1929. She only spent a few months at theschool before developing pleurisy. Mother went over to Englandto collect her and to return to Canada.

HEALTH: Joan has suffered from Tuberculosis on a number of occasionsthrough her life. In 1988 she cracked a pelvis after beingknocked down by a kangaroo in a wild-life sanctury in northernNew South Wales. She completed her tour in spite ofrestrictions, but after returning to Canada was advised by anorthopaedic surgeon to use crutches for some six weeks and tokeep weight off the hip as much as possible.

OCCUPATION: Secretary to Sanatorium in Kentville for 34 years (1943-1977).Now retired.

TRAVEL: Was taken with her elder sister by her mother to England in1919. There are pictures of them with their grandfather(Frederick Andrews). To New Zealand, Fiji and Australia in 1988.Had an unfortunate argument with a kangaroo in Queensland (seenote above). To Edmonton for a conference in February 1988.
