Tertiary - Civil Service Examinations OCCUPATION: Civil Servant (1939-1981) Served in variousDepartments including - Admiralty, Ministry of Supply, Ministryof Aviation, Ministry of Technology, Ministry of Defence.Witnessed many of the changes that occurred after the formationof the Ministry of Supply. These came about from mergers anddivisions of departments to suit Government exigencies. AWARDS: Companion of the Imperial Service Order (I.S.O.) TRAVEL: To U.S.A. in 1945 - delegation to U.N., staff. On thefiftieth anniversary of the United Nations was invited as aguest at the celebrations in New York. Flew in "Concorde" as aguest of the government. NOTE: Although Joan was a first cousin, the difference in ourages was sufficient to keep us apart when we lived near eachother except in my very early years when, on occasion, I wascared for during the day by my aunt.
