2011 - Niagara Gazette, obituary: Ransomville - Joan L. Woods, age 57. of Ransomville, NY, died Friday, February 4, 2011 in Mount St Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a long illness. Joan was born November 29, 1953 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late James and Loretta (Buttery) Canfield. She was a 1971 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School. For 10 years she owned and operated Woods Insurance Agency in Ransomville. Prior to that she had worked in her family's restaurant, The Shanty, on Lake Rd., in Ransomville. Joan married Thomas Woods in September of 1987. She is survived by her husband, Tom; a son, James (Danelle) Veillette of Detroit, MI; her sisters, Susan (Steven) Hillman of Ransomville and Brenda (Stephen) Swidergal of Grand Island; a granddaughter, Hayden Veillette and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Judith Canfield.
