http://www.concentric.net/~pvb/GEN/jsbonn.html Joan Sophia Bonnell* (1807-1860), was probably born in Detroit MI, and first married Arthur Woodward, who died in 1825, possibly from an industrial accident, shortly after their marriage. Their daughter, Arthetta Woodward may have been born after her father, Arthur Woodward, died. Joan raised Arthetta as a single parent, until Arthetta was 9 years old. Joan remarried to Sylvester Knight, Jr.* of Ypsilanti, and moved with Arthetta to Ypsilanti in about 1934. Arthetta married at the youthful age of 16 to Spencer Bartholomew Driggs (1821-1883), as his first of two wives. Spencer was born in Ypsilanti and was engaged in the business of real estate. Joan had two daughters by Sylvester Knight, Jr.*, the first of whom, Alice Jane Knight, died in infancy, and the second, Ellen Jane Knight*, born in 1839 lived as an only child until her mother died in 1860. Fortunately, Ellen Jane had a "rich half-uncle", Horatio Gates Knight, in Massachusetts, who invited her to live with him. Horatio also enrolled Ellen Jane in the Williston Seminary at East Hampton, MA, where she met her husband, James Henry Bradford* (1836-1913). References: Driggs Family in America, Book 2; L.
